FIU’s WAC program is actively engaging faculty across campus. Our AI in Action workshops have yielded tangible results, with faculty participants enhancing their assignment designs to thoughtfully incorporate AI tools and strategies. The high demand for these workshops led us to partner with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching to offer the Teaching in the Age of AI Micro-Credential. We will also continue offering our annual Writing in the Disciplines Micro-Credential, a program that provides faculty with hands-on training and recognition for integrating effective writing pedagogy into their courses.
In addition, we continue to collaborate with the Global Learning Office to support faculty in integrating writing into globally focused courses, while also providing ongoing training and support for our doctoral writing fellows, who are facilitating interdisciplinary writing groups across campus.
Teaching in the Age of AI Micro-Credential
Teaching in the Age of AI Micro-Credential
Faculty are invited to apply for an exciting new faculty development opportunity to obtain a micro-credential focused on Teaching in the Age of AI. Faculty will receive a stipend of $500 for obtaining the AI badge and for incorporating what they have learned in their own course(s) through the implementation of a student-facing AI literacy badge.
To earn this badge and gain access to the student AI badge, faculty will complete two workshop series: Teaching in the Age of AI: Fundamentals (facilitated by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching) and Teaching in the Age of AI: Assignment and Assessment Design (facilitated by the Writing Across the Curriculum Program).
Both workshop series will be offered each semester. For the Spring 2026 semester, the workshop dates are below:
- Workshop Series 1: Teaching in the Age of AI: Fundamentals (pre-requisite for workshop series 2)
Mondays, Feb. 2, 9, and 16, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. - Workshop Series 2: Teaching in the Age of AI: Assignment and Assessment Design
Fridays, March 13, 20 and 27 from 10:30 a.m. to noon via Zoom.
